Today， I will talk about the difference between saying“what do you do”and “what can you do”
今天，我將談談“what do you do”和“what can you do”之間的區別
“What do you do”means what is your profession， or， what do you do for a living
“What do you do”意思是你的職業是什麼，或者你以什麼為生？
In conversation， it almost always follows “What‘s your name？What did you do？”
在談話中，它幾乎總是跟在“what’s you name？What did you do？”之後
“What do you do？” means what kind of work do you do， or what kind of career do you have。
“What do you do？”的意思是你做什麼樣的工作，或者你從事什麼樣的職業
What are you doing puts the question in time
What are you doing把問題及時提出來
What were you doing is in the past
What were you doing意思是你所做的是過去的事
“what are you doing”is in the present，
“what are you doing”是現在的意思
and“what will you be doing”is in the future
而“what will you be doing”是將來的意思
The answer is more general， and can mean many more things than what do you do
答案更為普遍，比what do you do意味著更多的事情
“What do you do ”is about your profession， “what are you doing” is about your life in general
“What do you do ”是關於你的職業，“what are you doing”是關於你的生活的
“How are you doing”is about your well-being， and your health
“How are you doing”是關於你的幸福和健康的
Usually， when we are in a position to serve someone， we can use the phrase“What can I do for you？”
通常，當我們處於為某人服務的位置時，我們可以使用這個短語“What can I do for you？”
“What can I do for you”means what would you like
“what can I do for you”的意思是你想要什麼
“What can you do”means what are you able to do for me
“what can you do”的意思是你能為我做些什麼
If someone asks you“what you can do？”， they want to know what you are able to do for them
如果有人問你“what you can do？”，他們想知道你能為他們做什麼
You could ask someone， “what can you do about this？ Can it change？”

Please note： the expressions “what can you do” and “what do you do” mean different things

“What can you do” is also a rhetorical expression about the hopelessness of a situation

or a situation that you can‘t change

The meaning of“How do you do？“is hello
How do you do的意思是“你好”
It is a very polite way of saying hello

But，you would very rarely hear it nowadays
