昨日冬至，相信大家都吃了餃子，吃了湯圓~可能也吃了不少瓜（最近明星瓜真多，是年尾要衝kpi嗎）。今天我們來詳細講解一下dumpling這個詞。

基本詞義

a small piece of dough or pastry wrapped around fish， meat， or vegetables and cooked in oil， steam， or boiling water

一小塊麵糰或油酥麵皮包著魚，肉或者素菜，並且用油，蒸汽或者熱水煮熟的食物

應該有不少人都知道，dumpling並不特指“某一食物”，而是隻要“麵皮包著餡”的食物，我們都可以叫做dumpling。這也是為什麼不管是“餃子”還是“湯圓”，都可以用dumpling來表示的原因。

單詞詳解

根據詞源，dumpling這個單詞來自於以前的lump，現在的lump主要指“腫塊”（可以說是與餃子確有幾分相似）。

當然，你也可以與單詞dump相互關聯。dump，主要表示“傾倒，拋棄”，而餃子與湯圓都需要“倒”到熱水中煮，因此這兩個詞的關係可大了。
