形容詞的比較級的比較範圍限於兩個事物之間，而最高階的比較範圍是一個包含三個或三個以上的組，它們本身自帶比較，用於比較不同事物的特徵或性質，其中最高階表示的是最高的度（強度、數量或質量等）。
