一次呼吸的時間非常短促，正常人的呼吸頻率為每分鐘12-20次，那麼每次呼吸差不多是3-5秒，那麼 in the same breath 就是用來表示時間的短促，意為“但緊接著，但同時”，通常意味著與前一段意圖或意思相反，例如：

I don’t understand how she can praise the mayor and talk about his scandals in the same breath。
