一、in， outside， between， among
(A)in在……裡面
She put her book in the desk。
她把書放進了書桌。
(B)outside在……外面
What did you see outside the hall？
你在大廳外看見了什麼？
(C)between在……之間（指二者）
The building stands between the park and the small river。
那棟建築位於公園和小河之間。
(D)among在……之間（指多者）
“There is a thief among you。 ” the policeman shouted to the crowd。
警察向人群喊道：“你們中間有個小偷！”
注意：
among後往往接籠統的人和事物，若需接具體的人或數目時，即使是指多者，也用between，此時一般有and連線，可理解為多者中任何兩者之間。
如：
Switzerland lies between France， Germany， Austria and Italy。
瑞士位於法國、德國、奧地利和義大利之間。
二、on， above， over， below， under
(A)on表示“在……上面”，表面相互接觸。
There is a book on the desk。
桌上有本書。
(B)above表示“在……上方，位置高出……”，與below相對。
The Turners live above us。
特納一家人住在我們的上面。
(C)over表示“在……正上方”，與under相對。
The picture is hanging over the blackboard。
那張圖掛在黑板的正上方。
(D)below表示“在……下方，低於……”。
Her skirt reaches just below her knees。
她的裙子剛到膝蓋下。
(E)under表示“在……正下方”。
They sat under a big tree， drinking。
他們坐在一棵大樹下喝酒。
三、near， by， beside
(A)near表示“在……附近”。
My home is near the school。
我家離學校很近。
(B)) by = beside,表示“靠近，在……旁邊”，比near距離更近。
He just sat by/ beside me in the cinema。
在電影院他就坐在我旁邊。
四、in front of， behind， around
(A)in front of表示“在……前面”，指在外部。
There is a tall tree in front of our classroom。
我們教室前面有一棵高樹。
比較：
in the front of表示“在……前部”，指在內部。
There is a red chair in the front of the room。
在房間前部有把紅椅子。
(B)behind表示“在……後面”。
A high building stands behind the village。
村子後面有一高層建築。
(C)around表示“在……周圍，圍繞”。
There are many trees around the village。
村子周圍有很多樹圍繞。
五、from， to， for， into， out of
(A)from表示“從……”。
She will fly from Beijing to Hongkong。
她將從北京飛往香港。
(B)to表示“到……”，指目的地。
They got to the town very late。
他們很晚才到那個鎮。
(C)for表示“去，向……”，指方向或去向。
The train for shanghai has been away。
去往上海的火車已經開走了。
比較：
towards僅指朝著某個方向，不一定是目的地；
to指到目的地；
for指向目的地，且常用於leave for; start for等固定搭配中。
(D)into表示“進入”。
The teacher came into the classroom with a smile。
老師微笑著走進了教室。
比較：
into由外進入到裡面，是動態的；而in是指靜態的位置。
(E)out of表示“從……出來”。
They pulled him out of the water。
他們把他從水裡拉了出來。
比較：
out of是指從裡面出來，是動態的；而outside是指靜態的位置。
六、along， across， through， over
(A)along表示“沿著”街、路、河岸等線形物。
There are all kinds of beautiful flowers along the street。
沿街有著各種美麗的花。
(B)across表示“橫穿”某一平面，或“橫過”某一線形物。
Pipes carry oil across the desert。
管道將石油輸送過沙漠。
It‘s dangerous to run across the busy road。
跑著穿越繁忙的馬路是很危險的。
(C)through指從某物的內部“穿過”。
It took us ten minutes to drive through the tunnel。
開車穿過這條隧道花了我們10分鐘時間。
(D)over指“越過”某一障礙物。
The bear went over the mountain。
熊翻越了高山。
七、at， in
at指較小的地方，如車站、家等；而in多指在較大地方，如國家、城市、大洲等。如：
Please wait for me at the bus station。
請在公共汽車站等我。
The plane will arrive in Beijing at 13：00。
飛機將於13點到達北京。
八、on the other side of， across， over
They live on the other side of/over/across the street。
他們住在街的對面。
