我們坐電梯的時候，經常會看到 no smoking。這裡是no，為什麼不是not呢？

not的常用法可以概括為：

1。 用在

系動詞

或者

助動詞

之後，對

謂語進行否定，就是我們經常說的否定句。

如：

2。用來代替並否定一個片語或者句子。如：

-Will you come here in time tomorrow morning？

-I‘m afraid

not.

3。修飾all，both，every連用，表示

部分

否定。如：

就是在其前加上

一。先說

副詞

1。表示否定的回答，回答一般疑問句。

-Do you like America？

2。用在

比較級

之前，表示“一點也不、並不、毫不”的意思。如：

注意：這裡no可以換成not，但在意義上有些差別：no的語氣更加強烈一些。

3。用在形容詞之前，表示“並非、並無”的意思。如：It is no different。

形容詞：

表示“並非、絕非”

2.表示“禁止、不許”，相當於祈使句

對比上面說的，電梯裡面的提示為什麼不是not smoking？smoking是動名詞毫無疑問，not smoking 是對邏輯主語而言的，no smoking是對別人而言的。比方說

Not

smoking is a good habit。
