adv。 在哪裡；到哪裡 Where are you？你在哪？
where是特殊疑問詞，用來引導特殊疑問句。當我們不知道某東西在什麼地方時，常用Where is/are。。。？來詢問。
1。—Where’s my pencil box？ 我的鉛筆盒在哪兒？
—It’s in your schoolbag。 在你的書包裡。
1） 詢問某人或某物在哪個地方，可用句型“Where + be + 主語（人或物）？”。where是疑問副詞，意為“在哪裡”，be要隨著後面主語人稱單複數進行變化，單數用is，複數用are。where’s 是where is的縮寫形式，回答時不能用yes或no，而是問什麼就答什麼。如果主語是人，回答時用人稱代詞主格做主語；如果主語是物，回答時單數為“It’s + 表示地點的詞”，複數用“They are + 表示地點的詞”。如：
—Where’s my baseball？ 我的網球在哪兒？—It’s under the desk。 在桌子底下。
—Where are my English books？ 我的英語書在哪兒？—They are on the chair。 在椅子上。
—Where’s Tom？ 湯姆在哪兒？—He is in the room。 他在房間裡。
2） 當別人向你詢問的事情你不知道時，可用I don’t know。作答，使用時，習慣在前面加上Sorry。 / I’m sorry。 這樣語氣上顯得更客氣些。如：
—Where is my pencil？ 我的鉛筆在哪兒？
—Sorry， I don’t know。 對不起，我不知道。
【語法詳解】
where 引導的特殊疑問句
where，漢語意思是“哪裡、哪兒”。與who， what等一樣，也喜歡提問。不過，where是疑問副詞，where的職責是用來對“地點”進行提問。問“某人在哪裡”或“某物在哪裡
【特點一】where常用來提問表示地點的副詞或介詞短語。帶where的句中不能再有表示地點的副詞或in， at， on， under等構成的介詞短語。如：
—Where do you live？你住在哪裡？（這裡不用live in）
—I live in Beijing。我住在北京。
【特點二】where問“哪裡”，如果問句中出現表示來源或方向的介詞時，此時where具有代詞的性質，介詞就不能省掉。如：
Where are you from？你從哪裡來？
Where are you driving to？你開車到哪裡去？
【特點三】 當where詢問的物品數量為單數時，be動詞要使用is，因為該物品在問句中提到過，所以回答時用代詞it代替該物品就可以了。如：
—Where is my baseball？我的棒球在哪兒？
—It’s in the backpack。在揹包裡。
當所詢問的物品數量為複數時，be動詞使用are，因為該物品在問句中提到過，所以回答時用代詞they代替該物品。如：
—Where are my books？我的書在哪兒？
—They’re on the sofa。在沙發上。
【特別提醒】 Where is可以縮寫成Where’s，但Where are不能縮寫。
